The Executive Board of the IMF is scheduled to convene on April 29 to finalize its last assessment of Pakistan's $3 billion Stand-By Arrangement. Meanwhile, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb recently indicated that Pakistan is progressing towards securing a new loan from the IMF, noting the institution's openness to considering a larger and longer program.

Today, Ambassador Blome met with Senate Chairman Yousuf Raza Gilani at the Parliament House to engage in constructive dialogue aimed at bolstering bilateral relations and advancing mutual interests.

During the meeting, Ambassador Blome commended Pakistan's new economic team and expressed optimism about the ongoing discussions between Pakistan and the IMF. He lauded the efforts of the Pakistani economic team and highlighted the potential for increased economic cooperation between Pakistan and the US.

Recognizing Pakistan's positive economic indicators, including a downward trend in inflation and substantial dollar reserves, Ambassador Blome noted that the IMF's favorable feedback would encourage investors.

Senate Chairman Gilani underscored the significance of the economic partnership between the two countries, acknowledging the US as Pakistan's largest trading partner.
