The IPL 2024 game between Rajasthan Royals and Lucknow Super Giants at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Sunday encountered a temporary halt due to a broken wire from the spider cam that fell onto the ground. This incident occurred just two balls into the match, with Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler batting for RR. Ground staff promptly intervened, although it took them a while to clear the wire and restore normalcy. The game resumed after the delay, with both teams eager to kick off their IPL 2024 journey with a win.
Sanju Samson's Rajasthan Royals (RR) won the toss and opted to bat first against KL Rahul's Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the 4th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Sunday.
Is this a first? Play was halted due to interference from a Drone/Spidercam. This match seems to be mirroring the excitement of the upcoming games once again.
Rajasthan and Lucknow are both competing in their inaugural match of the 17th IPL season, each eager to secure a victory in their debut game.
During the toss, Samson mentioned that Riyan Parag would occupy the number four batting position for their team. Additionally, he highlighted Rovman Powell as a potential impact player for the match.
"We are opting to bat first today as the pitch seems favorable for batting. Although we were prepared for both scenarios, our team composition has changed for this match. Returning to Jaipur brings a positive atmosphere to the dressing room. Riyan Parag will take the number 4 spot, alongside Jos Buttler, David Miller, Trent Boult, and there's also the possibility of Powell making an impact as a substitute," stated Samson.
On the opposing side, Rahul expressed that if they had won the toss, they too would have chosen to bat first. He confirmed that Quinton de Kock, Marcus Stoinis, Nicholas Pooran, and Naveen-ul-Haq are their four overseas players for this match.
"We also had the intention to bat first, but the pitch conditions are promising for batting. I'm excited to be back playing after dealing with injuries over the past few years. The setbacks have fueled my determination, leading to better performances upon my return. Our foreign player options are Quinton de Kock, Nicholas Pooran, Marcus Stoinis, and Naveen-ul-Haq. Our primary focus is on winning this game," added Rahul.
