Construction at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore has notably intensified as Pakistan accelerates its preparations to host the upcoming 2025 ICC Champions Trophy.
One of the most significant developments is the completion of trench excavation and the removal of the fences in front of the enclosures. These essential steps lay the groundwork for the installation of the digital scoreboard, which aims to enhance the viewing experience for cricket enthusiasts.
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi visited the stadium site on Sunday to evaluate the project's progress. During his visit, he stressed the importance of sticking to the schedule for each task, asserting that every moment counts.
Naqvi also directed the construction team to ensure the digital scoreboard is positioned strategically for optimal visibility for fans.
In addressing accessibility issues, Naqvi emphasized the necessity of providing elevator access to the stadium's basement, ensuring that all fans, including those with mobility challenges, can enjoy the matches without difficulty.
The tournament is set to take place from February 19 to March 9, with a reserve day on March 10. Matches will be conducted in Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi, with Lahore slated to host seven matches, including the final. The opening match and one semi-final will be held at Karachi's National Bank Stadium, which will feature a total of three matches, while Rawalpindi will host five matches, including the other semi-final.
According to the proposed schedule, Group A consists of Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, and New Zealand, while Group B includes England, South Africa, Australia, and Afghanistan.
