اوروں پہ ہے وہ ظلم کہ مجھ پر نہ ہوا تھا
O tyrant you could never be anybody's friend
the tortures that on others are, on me don't attend
چھوڑا مہ نخشب کی طرح دست قضا نے
خورشید ہنوز اس کے برابر نہ ہوا تھا
like in the case NaKHshab's moon, fate gave up the fight
the sun was not yet equal to my beloved's light
توفیق باندازۂ ہمت ہے ازل سے
آنکھوں میں ہے وہ قطرہ کہ گوہر نہ ہوا تھا
through courage, Grace of God avails, since eternity
were it not a teardrop then, a bauble it would be
جب تک کہ نہ دیکھا تھا قد یار کا عالم
میں معتقد فتنۂ محشر نہ ہوا تھا
until I had not espied, her stature gracefull tall
I did not believe in stories of doomsday at all
میں سادہ دل آرزدگئ یار سے خوش ہوں
یعنی سبق شوق مکرر نہ ہوا تھا
Simple hearted, I am happy that she is upset
it is as if earlier love's lesson I didn't get
دریائے معاصی تنک آبی سے ہوا خشک
میرا سر دامن بھی ابھی تر نہ ہوا تھا
the sea of sinfulness depletes, it is nearly drained
and yet the hemline of my vest, has barely been stained
جاری تھی اسدؔ داغ جگر سے مری تحصیل
آتش کدہ جاگیر سمندر نہ ہوا تھا
long before, these burning scars did then my heart adorn
ere even advent of salamanders fire-born
