OpenAI’s international strategy leader recently highlighted that the company is experiencing an overwhelming demand for its AI solutions across every market sector. Oliver Jay, the managing director for international strategy at OpenAI, explained on CNBC’s CONVERGE LIVE that keeping pace with this demand is like riding a rollercoaster.
He pointed out that a diverse group of users—including consumers, businesses, educators, and developers—are increasingly turning to their products. For example, their AI tool ChatGPT has now reached over 400 million active users each week.
Jay noted that unlike previous technology shifts, such as the gradual adoption of software as a service (SaaS) or cloud computing, AI is being embraced universally and almost all at once. Speaking at a two-day event in Singapore, he mentioned that the city-state now records the highest per-capita usage of ChatGPT in the world.
He further stated that “AI is no longer an elusive concept—it’s ready for real-world application,” and added that companies are already undergoing significant transformation thanks to its impact.
ChatGPT is an AI chatbot developed by San Francisco-based OpenAI that uses deep learning to generate human-like responses. OpenAI was established in 2015 by Elon Musk and Sam Altman and has received support from major investors, including Microsoft
